Measurement Services

Upper Iowa Tool and Die and Innovations began offer the measurement services in the summer of 2013. The measurements are provided through the use of a Hexagon Metrology/Cordex 1808MZ DCC Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).  The CMM is located in its own climate controlled room within the shop.  It is certified every year and has an accuracy of 10 microns.  The bed of the CMM measures 27 inches by 40 inches.

All hand held measuring devices used in the shop operations are verified and calibrated on a quarterly bases.

 Three of the shop personnel have been certified by the Hexagon factory in the programming and operation of the CMM.  One of the three shop personnel trained, is a Quality Engineer with over 30 years experience. 

The CMM is programmed through the use of the customers Solid Models (when available) or through probe touch method.  Reports are generated from the machine once the part is measured.  These reports can be forwarded  to the respective customer alone or along with the customers required SPC data sheets and flow sheets.  Our clerical staff can customize the data sheets to meet the customers’ needs and expectations.
